In Fall 2011, Central Saint Martins will be moving to a new campus in Kings Cross. This also signifies that we are going to be leaving the current buildings on Southampton Row and Charing Cross Road behind. What makes our current buildings so special is the layers of history, and we can literally see such layers on the surfaces of the building as paints, marks and colors. Our new campus will not have such layers, but we shouldn't forget about them and I wanted to find a way to bring the history to the new building.
The aprons I've created are to be used in workshops in the new building. No more history of layers will be added to our current building after we leave, but those aprons will remain to collect more history of layers in the new building. I'm proposing textile department to have aprons with the image of textile studio, aprons for silkscreening to have ones with silkscreen studio, and so on.
